Parala Maharaja Engineering College (PMEC), Berhampur is the first
Government Engineering College in Southern Odisha. It came into
existence in the year 2009 as the constituent college of
BIJU PATNAIK UNIVERSITY of TECHNOLOGY (BPUT),Odisha.
The main objective of the institution is to produce quality technocrats
in various streams of engineering. The college offers nine B.Tech and
seven M.Tech courses. PMEC is well known for both of its top ranked
students and well qualified dynamic young faculty members.The college
has consistently excelled in academic placements and extra curricular activities.
The Orissa Physical Society (OPS) was founded in the year 1971. It is an
association of physics teachers and researchers of Odisha. It has been
actively promoting physics education and research in various ways; by organising
its annual Convention, by felicitating physics teachers with lifelong
contributions in the field of physics and encourage researchers below
the age of 35 by honouring them with "Young Scientist Award". The society
publishes research and review articles in the field of physics in the journal
"Odisha Journal of Physics (OJP)" and popularises physics through articles
published in an odia magazine "DIGBALYA".
It also takes up steps to improve UG and PG syllabus in Physics taking UGC
recommendation into consideration. Under its outreach programmes, the society
conducts seminars and workshops in Physics at different schools and colleges in Odisha.
